Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies, and Pinellas Park, Fla., police officers arrest 10-year-old Joshua Heldreth, of Charlotte, N.C., for trespassing on Woodside Hospice property in Pinellas park, Fla. Heldreth was attempting to bring Terri Schiavo a glass of water. Schiavo's feeding tube was removed by court order Friday, March 18, 2005. (AP Photo/Chris O'Meara)

I dont normally like to comment on touchy subject such as this but , this just saddens me so. A 10 year old boy arrested?! Well, as you know respect the police, but this seems to much. Why cant they just render a written warning or something? Notice in the picture there is 4 officer around the boy? It takes 4 to make an arrest of a 10 year old boy?

Uggg....

Memoirs

--
Live Strong
--

The memoirs that I have been writing are not near done. I had once said they would be out By April 3rd. It does not appear I can make that date. Expect the completion by the end of April.

-----------------

Excerpt 1 (un edited):

" I often think from time to time of the last hour of my mother’s life. She was dehydrated, vomiting and restless. Her mental status continued to change from good to bad. Mom was an incredibly strong person when it came to dealing with medical problems as she had several severe ones. My family has assumed this was her "normal" problems and she would go to the hospital and be out in a few days.

At around 9:30 am Easton EMS in 852 showed up along with 2 officers who I know very well. They couldn't have been nicer to me and my grandparents. Unfortunately they were treating for dehydration and high glucose levels. Though it was an ALS call and a paramedic met them in route at GE, they missed (though I can’t blame them) a key problem. My mother was in fact suffering from a stroke and though mom displayed the symptoms given her past history of heart problems was almost non-existent the EMS and ER both ruled it out.

Once my mother got to the ER she was put on a cot and had a little room to herself. My grandfather was with her at the time. She wanted to have the nurse come in and see her for what reason, I’m unsure. Mom never saw it coming but next thing we know she went code "blue" and that was the beginning of the end..."

Excerpt 2:

"It seems that even after 10 yrs I still protect myself from what I fear most, the loss of everything, living on the streets, losing family, losing money, abuse, things of that nature.

The shock of these terms especially associated to me, if you know me probably doesn’t make much sense to you. As with everyone, there are good times and there are bad. Rumor has it that some have it worse then others. My life, though seemingly non complex, is in fact diverse in experiences and emotions. From an early age a sense of difficulty and hardship were never far from me. If it wasn’t initial custody battles that stayed in court for months to visitation rights that I even at the age of 5 understood. I would later have to face the father I barely saw more then once a month or more. There is nothing like spending my weekends with a man I disliked more then one could imagine..."

GeoCaching

-- Live Strong --

Yesterday I went GeoCaching with a friend. It was good fun. Check the pics.

Large Scale Something

--

As a friend and I come back from geo caching (blog entry to come soon on it) I hear a call on my scanner that there is a beacon of a plane coming from the town line into the next town. Someone assumed it was a down plane so naturally everyone with arms and legs responded. As I sit listening for the time being, I wonder what the hell is going on. I quickly learn this is a multi-town effort and there is to be a large staging area near by. I call to my Lt. and ask if I and another explorer should respond and assist. After a few phone calls, I hear Eagle 1 (state trooper helo) over my house and circling the suggested "crash sight". As I gather more information and pull up several maps, I hear several different firemen radioing from trails in the nature preserve (1,000 acres large). My EMT friend of mine was at the staging area in 852 awaiting any patients and helping to man the radios.

The other explorer that I mentioned earlier decides to drive by the scene and at least see what is going on, as I haven’t heard whether I should respond and assist yet. There were a few ERT (SWAT) guys and several fire trucks, ambulances and police cars from all over in this one parking lot.

After a few hours, my EMT friend calls and tells me the search is scratched as there is no sight of any planes any where in the preserve. After hours of searching for a downed plane near a reservoir in Easton, authorities say there was no downed plane. The ground search ended in the evening. However, the FAA shortly discovered the distress signal actually came from a boat parked at the Stratford Marina with something called an emergency locator transmitter. The FAA say it was probably turned on accidentally and was shut off.Either way, it’s good to know that our emergency response teams are here to help at any time and in great condition.

Pics taken of TV News Footage. I understand they are terrible. Just to paint some idea in your mind as to what I am talking about.

Lights and Sirens

"Radio to 329 and ( badge # of officer ) , signal ( 4, 15, 5, pick one that you like) at ( address)."

( Note - not my towns actual police vehicle)

For most people, the image of a cop cites a broad range of feelings– some positive and some negative – and most inaccurate. Police in my opinion are there to help. Of course there are times when it seems as if they are being unfair while writing you a ticket for speeding, or towing your car away. Overall the police are there to insure the publics safety. The police motto says "Protect and Serve". Just note I understand if you do not agree with me.

It’s hard to find a comparison that describes the joy of being in a police car going lights and sirens to a call. As I focus on the nature of the call when dispatched and the thoughts that run through my head at a high rate of speed makes everything else secondary in life. With the lights displaying and the sirens blaring, we rush to the call. Traffic moves to the side as we pass by at well over 80 mph. It’s a thrill.

What makes police work so great is that it’s never the exact same call or case as before. Every experience is unique. No one call is ever the same.

All of this is the stepping stones to a career in the FBI or Secret Service.

PowerBook G5 soon? Then a purchase

--
Live Strong
--

"Expect Apple to ship PowerBook and iBook notebook Macs based on a G5-class PowerPC chip in Q2.

So claim sources close to Taiwan's contract manufacturers, DigiTimes reports. Tucked away in a discussion about Apple's manufacturing partners are references to an iBook G5 and a PowerBook G5, which will ship in Q2 2005. They will be built by Asustek and Quanta, respectively.

The news will be welcomed by Mac notebook enthusiasts, who have lookrd forward to a G5-based PowerBook since the emergence some 12 months ago of the 90nm PowerPC 970FX from IBM. In the end, the 90nm die-shrink, despite IBM's initial claims, proved less notebook-friendly than anticipated. This stopped Apple from rolling out a PowerBook based on the chip, but it refreshed the XServe G5 and updated Power Mac desktops with the new part.

Apple's then director of Power Mac product marketing, Tom Boger, told customers at the G5 desktop launch not to expect a PowerBook G5 "any time soon [and] certainly not before the end of the year".

Has IBM solved the 970FX's heat dissipation problems, possibly with new chip-making techniques, or has Apple figured out how to keep the chip sufficiently cool to operate efficiently in a notebook? A third possibility exists: DigiTimes has written 'G5' when it should have typed 'G4'.

Certainly, Apple wants to move the PowerBook line to the G5 and will do so as soon as possible. But Freescale's upcoming 90nm G4-class MPC7448 chip has been seen as a more likely candidate than the G5 for the next PowerBook and / or iBook revisions. "

This is great news because I intend to get a Powerbook G5 for college. I cant wait to get one. New technology is so exciting!!! Not to mention my grandparents fully understand and expect to pay for it. :)

Run

--
Live Strong
--

For the past week I have been running after school and on weekends. I surprisingly feel great! Its been more then a year since I have actually went for a run. I have been afraid to as my hypoglycemia has prevented me.

Well, as it is now, I am able to run for at least 25 minutes with out any drastic drop in my blood sugar level :) . Ofcourse I am "out of shape" so I am in pain.

Perhaps I should have done track this year, I am thinking more and more like I should have. To late now I guess, monday morning QB'ing.

Well at the very least I keep this running schedule up and run 3-4 times a week. Get some races under my belt and kick ass by the end of the summer! I was # 1 and I will get back to it soon enough.

2 Professions

Which to choose? I have a suspicion that the FBI has more room to go up the "corporate ladder" then the Secret Service does. I often weigh both these options and each time the FBI comes out ahead because of its diversity. I specifically want to work in Anti-/counter Terrorism and/or Homeland Security. For what ever reason, I find anti/counter-terrorism fascinating. To be able to help prevent what happened on 9/11/01 would be an honor.

On the other hand protecting people is also something I would enjoy very much. Though as far as I understand, there is not an incredible amount of higher positions once you become an agent aside from the level of clients of which you protect. Of course what you can do is retire early and open your own protection firm, which is something I would seriously consider.

It's all a matter of time before I really narrow down what it is I want to do working for the feds. I just hope I don’t get shot and die too early in life... but then again when you sign up, that’s a risk you have to take to have the greatest job in the world.

Man Cured from Type 1

--
Live Strong
--

A 61-year-old man has become the first person in the UK to be cured of type 1 diabetes thanks to a groundbreaking cell transplant technique.

After receiving insulin-making cells from the pancreases of dead donors, Richard Lane of Bromley, Kent, no longer needs insulin injections.

For the transplant, healthy islet cells are taken from donor pancreases and are injected into the patient's liver.

Once there, they develop their own blood supply and begin to produce insulin. Insulin is something that most diabetics , type 1 pt.s dont make forcing them to take insulin shots several times a day.

Eventually this could mean the end of insulin dependence for all type 1 diabetes sufferers.
But there was a shortage of donor pancreases from which to extract islet cells, which means they could not treat everyone with type 1 diabetes. The transplant work is moving forward all the time and hopefully it will become more widely available in the future.

One Way or Another

--
Live Strong
--

One way or another I am going to get to Australia, come hell or high water. The whole system is breaking down! I am not going to Aus until my second year in school. I am not spending as long down there as I first thought this summer.

I really have this deep desire to just find $3,000 and get on a plane to Sydney, get a train then a taxi to my cousins house. I would love it so. The problem with that, people here wont like it. But I say screw them! :) . I desperately need a change, a drastic one.

Would I miss people? Sure, but the life in Sydney far out weighs many emotional attatchments I have here. I am sorry people, we can chat on a iSight, but I need to get away.

Most are going to a school that's with in 400miles of home, I want to go to a school that's 8,000 miles from home. I need that change, I need that distance. Everything is so much nicer in Sydney, its all things that I am yet to really explore. So much to do, so little time. It just looks like they will be done a year later then I once envisioned.

I am aware that my last few blogs have mainly consisted of just interesting pictures that have nothing to do with my original purpose of this blog. I look over at Nizlek's 2nd blog ( Thoughtless Planning ) I realize that my blog perhaps once in a while drift away from what I wanted it to be about. My original purpose was to discuss my life in general and bitch about anything I found wrong. Posting pictures of things I now realize is a cheap way of posting. and calling it a post is an insult to those who put time and effort into posting.

As of 7:00 pm tonight ( 1900 hours ) Australia looks like an option, but after 1 year of school here in the US. I comprimised with my grandparents so I can still go to AUS. With out a doubt I will attend school down there as I have been accepted and that will stay on hold for me in a year if I so want.

Australia, won't you wait for me?

Frustration with Aus

--
Live Strong
--

I am getting frustrated with many things. For starters, I want to get the college process out of the way. Just when I thought I was done with applications and paper work, I now find myself filling out visa information, college applications. I just wish my guidance counselor would actually help me with this.

The odds right now in going to AUS for my first year of college are looking 60/40. It’s a matter of time between getting visa, passport, figuring expenses and other logistics in etc before I decide.

Martha

--
Live Strong
--

Honestly, before her entire scandal and prison sentence I disliked Martha Stewart. It wasn’t until lately I have had a real sense of respect for her. She has gotten through prison and remains as a household name that’s more popular then ever. How does she do it?

Her name and brand is obviously very strong. Though there are new people in charge of her company I imagine she will be calling most of the shots soon enough. From Sears and K-Mart merging to a TV show which will be titled "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart." I must say I might just Tivo the first episode and watch it when I am really bored. She is going to be alright.

The real key to Martha's success in my opinion is that she has stayed strong and faced up to what was in front of her. She didn’t appeal, she didn’t delay her demise. She went fourth and I give her credit for doing so. Honestly I am surprised she survived prison. But I think I could do it too if I was Martha Stewart, an American icon and the world's first self-made female billionaire coming home to 132 acre estate. 5 months house arrest on 132 acres in a mansion doesn’t sound too bad to me. Not to mention a billion dollars to fall back on.

She really has everything she did before jail and maybe more. Before jail and the scandal her image began to fade. She became cliché and stagnate. Which makes everything she went through one of the best career moves she has ever made. Clearly prison and crime doesn’t do that to everyone (i.e. Wynona rider, where the hell has she been?) Martha is going to bounce back with more money and more popularity then ever before.

I find it strange I support her now. Before as I said, I really didn’t like her. She never the less did a “Good thing “(Famous Quote from Martha). She really faced up to her problems and I for one respect that. It’s not like she really did anything all that bad. Who hasn’t done a little inside trading, ha-ha.

My grandmother has even bought some of her stock I think. Buy now, be rich later.

Tivo

--
Live Strong
--

And God proclaimed " Let their be Tivo!”

Well what ever it was, it sure is a gift to society, or at least my mental well being. It’s become so hard to watch TV with out the abilities of tivo. Something about the system just knowing to record what and when is amazing. Pausing live TV also is a great feature.

I own a Tivo Series 2 DVR 40 hour. I love having it but I once thought having the 80 Humax Tivo with DVD player/recorder would be nice but then decided against it as I would likely only use it once in a great while. The problem with the 40 Hour version it that it deletes shows I wanted to watch. The Tivo 40 hour "policy" is out with the day old and in with the new. Unfortunately I can't always keep up with my tivo deleting rampage.

I think I solved my problems by not keeping as many Seinfeld’s on file and reducing the season pass manger to only new episodes of certain programs.

Bottom Line: Tivo is really great; just wish I had an 80 Hour.

G'Day!

I thought I would update my status on schools and future plans. I am still waiting to hear back from all my schools in America. If I were a betting man some say I am , [ carnival in July :) ] I would say I will hear back by mid March.

As far as school in Australia, I have been accepted to one so far and I expect to hear back from the other two schools soon. In terms of obtaining a visa for study in Aus. I plan to apply for one in the coming weeks.

I am excited at the oppurtunity I have and hope to take full advantage of it. My family down under is going to welcome me with open arms and a bedroom just for me. :)
